Dr. Shicong Ye specializes in evaluating and treating patients with epilepsy. Dr. Ye jointed Winthrop University Hospital in 2006 after years in private practice. He is medical director of EEG lab in WUH. He has a special interest in treating refractory seizure patients with vagal nerve stimulation and surgery. He has a particular interest in trials of new anti-epileptic drugs and is actively involved in clinical trials. He is specially trained to perform long-term EEG monitoring in complicated epilepsy cases. Dr. Ye is board certified in Neurology and in the subspecialty of epilepsy. His post graduate training includes a Fellowship in EEG/Epilepsy at long Island Jewish Medical Center. He completed a neurology residency at LIJ, where he was a Chief Resident, and an internship at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Ye completed an honorary medical degree from the prestigious Shanghai Medical University in China. Dr. Ye is a member of American epilepsy Society, American Academy of Neurology and American Medical Association. He also serves as a professional advisory board member of Long Island Epilepsy Foundation. Dr. Shicong Ye has been a primary investigator in several epilepsy clinical trials and co-investigator in many others.
The Winthrop Comprehensive Epilepsy Center offers monthly Support groups for patients with these conditions and is facilitated by the Neuroscience Social Worker. Dr. Ye is among the first board certified in the field of epilepsy in the nation by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
