Dr. Josef Maxwell “Max” Gutman earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Williams College dual majoring in Biology and Religion. He earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, CT. He completed his internship and neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He then completed a fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis at NYU School of Medicine.
Dr. Gutman specializes in the care of Multiple Sclerosis patients throughout the lifespan and in all phases of the disease. His clinical interests also include comorbidities in Multiple Sclerosis patients and other autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Gutman serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology for the NYU School of Medicine.
Dr. Gutman also sees Multiple Sclerosis patients at the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center-Huntington.
